Lydia Stueber

Stueber’s creative teaching project, “Book in a Box,” allows students to brainstorm personally relevant stories, memories or moments of their own or of a favorite book to illustrate and create a book in a box that contains an accordion book or pamphlet-style book, a map, sculpted objects and found objects. Students will also analyze different examples of books in a box from art history. Stueber will have students reflect and self-assess their work by writing labels for their books. The innovative, multimedia project lets students work in mediums from painting, drawing, collage, origami, sculpting and book-making practices. The project is also a cross-curricular project, combining visual arts with math, history, literature and multimedia approaches. The Voya grant will be used for artistic supplies including oil colors, acrylic covered palette, figure drawing workshop for students and a IPEVO V4K Ultra High Definition USB camera.
