Michael Katz

Michael Katz is executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), where he oversees all aspects of Voya’s Finance organization, including the Treasury, Controller, Actuary and Investor Relations departments. He serves as a lead advisor to senior management and the board of directors on matters related to capital allocation, business investment, investor engagement and shareholder value creation. 

Katz brings a disciplined approach to capital allocation and business strategy, helping Voya drive profitable growth, create long-term shareholder value and deliver meaningful outcomes for its clients. He also serves on Voya’s Executive Committee.

Katz joined Voya (then ING U.S. Financial Services) in 2004 and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has served as CFO for Voya’s annuities, life insurance and employee benefits businesses and held several senior leadership roles in Finance, Investor Relations, product development, capital management, actuarial functions and business strategy at Voya.

Katz has helped shape the company’s history, playing a central role in Voya’s initial public offering in 2013, the sale of the annuity and life businesses and, more recently, the acquisitions of Allianz Global U.S. and OneAmerica Financial’s retirement business. The strategic initiatives he has championed helped transform Voya into a capital-light, higher-return company.

Before joining Voya, Katz served in a variety of financial reporting and planning roles at Aegon.

Katz is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Pennsylvania State University.
