Leach’s and Graham’s innovative teaching idea, “Wildcat Productions: WRE News Crew,” is an afterschool enrichment program featuring a real-life media experience in which students use technology and creative problem-solving skills to develop a daily news broadcast. ‘News Crew’ students will work collaboratively to create, film and edit daily news videos, which will offer participants a sense of community, ownership, leadership and entertainment. The productions will be broadcast daily in WRE’s classrooms and published on their YouTube channel and social media outlets, thus providing an opportunity to touch every person in the community.
