Kristy Ehlers, Ph.D., and Ann Marshall

The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Technology for Sustainability,” focuses on supporting students enrolled in El Reno High’s Experiential STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Research program while working with local USDA scientists to conduct primary research in an array of topics including agriculture, soil science, aquaponics, hydroponics, water quality monitoring, climate and weather, large animal nutrition, and other areas. According to the team, students will select a topic and work with a professional scientist to research a specific question. The culmination of the year-long project will be a written research paper, scientific poster and statewide presentations.
