Angela Parish

Parish’s innovative teaching program, “Medical Careers Program/CNA,” provides students with CNA skills training, medical terminology and clinical shadowing opportunities at local hospitals. By fostering strong partnerships with area health care facilities, students gain invaluable real-world experience in professional clinical environments. The program not only provides essential knowledge and medical language skills but also assists students in evaluating whether a health care career aligns with their personal and professional aspirations. According to Parish, since its inception, the program has garnered local recognition, seen a significant increase in student enrollment within the last year, and helped many participants successfully secure job placements directly attributable to their involvement in the program. Additionally, students will earn CPR and Stop the Bleed certifications while also receiving college dual credit, further enhancing their qualifications and readiness for future careers. The Voya grant will be used to purchase four CPR training manikins and AED trainers.
