Call for Proposals for VOYA Guides

Could you write a VOYA Guide?

Scarecrow Press, publisher of Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA), has launched an imprint, VOYA Books. These professional books support VOYA's mission: promoting youth access to information, youth participation, and youth advocacy. A series within the imprint, VOYA Guides are lively, practical handbooks on working effectively with teenagers that:

  • target librarians, educators, and other professional youth workers
  • reflect the real world of the library, classroom, or other space where teens gather
  • share project ideas that really work with teens
  • showcase innovative approaches to the youth services field
  • feature teen voices and input

VOYA Guides are oversized project workbooks or how-to manuals with forms, quizzes, plans, charts, booklists, Webliographies, and other resources, often reproducible. Consider these topics or propose your own:

  • Workshops that Work: Training Your Colleagues to Reach Teens
  • Marketing to Teens in Libraries
  • Teens and Censorship
  • School and Public Library Cooperative Projects
  • Youth Participation in Libraries

No one is better qualified to write such guides than you, the experienced professional dedicated to working with teens. To submit your proposal, or for more information, contact Stacy L. Creel, VOYA Editor. Sample issues of VOYA and proposal guidelines are available upon request.
